The Tias were visiting from Spain in October (Yeah, I know. And I haven’t posted since August. Shame on me. I’ll try to play catch-up and include birthday parties and other such fun!)

Looking for a delicious summer treat? I made these delectable delights for a 4th of July party thanks to seeing this post at The Idea Room.
I love The Idea Room and have gotten some wonderful ideas from this site in the past! (Like this one!)

Oh, but these s’mores bars? They were a big hit!! I made some with milk chocolate and others with dark chocolate. Can’t wait to make them again!

Be a little more descriptive when handing a toddler an unfamiliar object. For example, if it’s a water balloon, don’t just say, “Hey-here’s a water balloon!” Say something more like, “Hey-here’s a water balloon. There’s water inside this water balloon.”

He was a surprisingly great sport about it after popping it in his face.

You announce that you’re going to be shy before you walk into a party, and within minutes you declare that you don’t want to be shy.

You love to snuggle, but turn your back quickly and ask us to pat your back. When we don’t do it correctly, you demonstrate how it should be done.

You speak to us in complete sentences and have much more compreshension than I ever imagined at this age.

You say “yes” slightly more than you say “no,” but we may just be asking the right questions.

Some days you and your brother hold hands in your carseats on the way to school. It melts my heart.

To say that you love puzzles would be the understatement of the century.

You want your mommy to take you to bed at night, and want your daddy to give you breakfast in the morning.

You’ll try anything we ask you to taste, even if it “looks yucky.”

You chase people down and yell “HUG!” if they are about to leave.

You make some great faces, especially the “mean” face with the scrunched up nose that Yago always complains about.

You have a great time at school and still love to tell me all about your day.

You give the best kisses and the best hugs.

You make us laugh and keep us on our toes!

Duck, duck, duck,…goose!

Mother goose was in a fowl mood today at the zoo when kids were getting too close to her goslings. After a few older kids had gotten a little bit too close for comfort, this goose decided to attack Daryoosh. Sure, go after the smallest kid in the bunch. I see how it works. Anyway, as the story has evolved, Daryoosh will tell you that the goose “kissed” him and it was “very very yucky!” Apart from being startled, the goose left no other marks on the poor kiddo.

And if you’re starting to waver on my mother of the year award, keep in mind that I did successfully protect him from THESE zoo animals:

On Sunday we went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. We all had a blast, especially Yago, who was tall enough for the kiddie rides (Daryoosh will have to wait for the the next trip, though).

It was their last day of World Fest, and we stumbled upon music and dancing from India. We stopped to take a listen!
